ACCESSORIES BY VALERIE:
All purses are handmade, so no two are the same. I purchase real wood cigar boxes, which have been previously displayed in humidors. Most are made of Spanish cedar and still carry the aroma of the cigar. I chose the boxes very carefully and like all cigar box art there are often very slight flaws from previous handling. I am very particular about preserving the original cigar box art; therefore I decorate the back and put the latches on the bottom. I personally don’t like carrying the artwork upside down. I replace all latches for a secure closure.
All handles are beaded, chain, or sometimes ribbon. Again, all can be custom designed to the client’s taste. Linings are a variety of fabrics, but I tend to use felt more frequently, as it holds up best. Purses can be adorned with tassels, mirrors, and a multitude of embellishments. Most hold up very well, as I take extra effort to seal the artwork.
